JACK DAY!!!
EMILY'S 15TH BIRTHDAY!!!
Today was a very good day! :-)
We ate at the wonderful breakfast buffet for breakfast, then Jin (our guide) took us and the other family with our agency to the bank to exchange money for the legal fees. We had to wait and wait and wait... then finally it was our turn. I am glad that banks in the US are different than Chinese banks!
We took a bus with the other family to the Civil Affairs building. The father is an art teacher at a high school in Atlanta. He gave Emily a necklace he had made for her birthday. He made 12 necklaces, one for each of his children, and will give them out to people he meets on his journey to his 12th child. Then, someday, he will try to contact each person he gave a necklace to. I think it is a sweet idea. The necklace is tucked away in a safe place until we get home. Em has decided that she will hang it on her wall.
Finally, it was time to meet the babies! As soon as we got out of our van, the other family's daughter arrived! They met her outside the building. She is an adorable little girl. Then another family with a different agency arrived, then their child arrived. Of course, Jack arrived last! We met him around 2:00. He came right to Richard, then to me. He is such a happy boy, and a chunky little guy. We signed the temporary custody papers, then came back to the hotel. I took tons of pictures of the kids all getting to know each other.
Jack loves: the purple stacking cup, the plastic keys, and anything that makes noise. Oh, and eating. The boy loves to eat. According to the nanny, he is not picky and his favorite food is everything!
Jack doesn't like: changing his clothes, bath time, having his diaper changed.
Then we had Em's birthday party! We ordered a birthday cake from the hotel with the help of our guide. It was... interesting. It was kind of like a cheesecake, and was decorated with her name and some chocolate. Then we had Papa John's pizza and some rice from the noodle shop for Jack. I hope she had a good birthday.
Jack went down for bed so well! As soon as I put him in the crib, he started sucking his thumb. I covered him up, he fussed for just a minute, then he was out.
